The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has updated the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) on its official website, uploading the party’s modified logo and reflecting changes to its national leadership.
The update comes weeks after the Federal High Court in Abuja ordered the electoral commission to recognise and upload the modified logo adopted by the party.
Justice J.O. Abdulmalik, in a judgment delivered on September 8, 2026, ruled that INEC’s refusal to recognise the modified logo was unconstitutional, illegal and an infringement on the rights of the political party.
The court further directed INEC to approve the modified logo, including its symbol and colours, for use by the NDC in all its political activities and elections conducted by the commission.
The logo, adopted at the party’s first National Executive Committee meeting on March 25, features a digitally designed two-finger victory sign on a blue background, with “NDC” displayed in red.
Following the court order, INEC’s political parties portal now reflects the modified logo and marks the update as having been made “BY COURT ORDER.”
The commission has also updated the party’s national leadership details.
Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe is listed as National Chairman, while Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu is listed as National Secretary. John Odey is listed as National Treasurer, Mainasara Abubakar Sani as National Financial Secretary and Reuben Egwuaba as National Legal Adviser.
The latest development settles, at least for now, the dispute between the NDC and INEC over the party’s official logo and comes as political parties position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The NDC had challenged INEC after the commission initially uploaded the modified logo but later removed it and reverted to the older association logo.
