The All Progressives Congress (APC) has included Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike; Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo; and Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, in its revised Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 general election.
The revised list, made available to journalists on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, forms part of the ruling party’s preparations for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign.
Wike has been named campaign coordinator for Rivers State and the FCT, while Soludo will coordinate activities in Anambra State and Adeleke will oversee the campaign in Osun State.
The appointments have attracted attention because the three politicians have different political affiliations.
Wike belongs to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Soludo is a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), while Adeleke won the Osun governorship election on the platform of the Accord Party.
Their inclusion in the APC’s campaign structure highlights the political alliances and relationships shaping preparations for the 2027 presidential election.
Tinubu to Head Campaign Council
Under the revised arrangement, Tinubu will serve as chairman of the Presidential Campaign Council, with Vice-President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, named as vice-chairmen.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq have also been named vice-chairmen.
Former Zamfara State Governor and Senator, Abdulaziz Yari, will serve as Director-General of the campaign council, while Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has been appointed secretary.
Other prominent figures named in the expanded structure include Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, former Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola and Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo.
The council is expected to coordinate the APC’s mobilisation, stakeholder engagement and campaign activities across the country ahead of the 2027 general election.
President Tinubu is expected to inaugurate the expanded campaign council at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday, October 14.
Party Membership and Campaign Roles
The inclusion of Wike, Soludo and Adeleke in the campaign council does not, by itself, establish that they have defected to the APC.
Their appointments should therefore be distinguished from formal changes in party membership.
Wike has maintained political relations with the Tinubu administration despite his PDP affiliation. Soludo remains associated with APGA, while Adeleke won his re-election under the Accord Party.
The revised campaign structure also includes political figures from different backgrounds, with responsibilities distributed across states and geopolitical zones.
The appointments will be closely watched as political parties and influential figures begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 presidential contest.
For the APC, the immediate task will be to translate its expanded campaign structure and political alliances into nationwide mobilisation ahead of the election.
